3-15-09 Race 1
Tri-City Kart Club Gold Cup race hosted by Seattle Kart Club
The opening race started out with a bang as Chase, driving the TKO Powerplants powered Top-kart took the win by 7 seconds. In qualifying he placed second by .009 seconds from pole. The heat race got a little rough due to the new format this year with inverted starting postitions from qualifying. After moving up to second, he was t-boned going into turn 4 and nearly got taken out of the race. After falling back to fifth place he was able to move back up into third. He started on the outside of the front row in the main event and got a great start to take first entering turn 1. From then on he was clear of the pack and smoothly sailed on for an easy win while also taking the points lead.
4-5-09 Race 2
Tri-City Kart Club Gold Cup race
The second race of the season started out with a minor mishap early on in the heat race. While leading, the engine suffered a rod failure that ended the race prematurely. The engine was unfixable so out came the back up engine for the final. He had to start in the back in tenth due to not finishing the heat race. As soon as the green flag dropped, Chase started taking postitions back. On the last lap, there was a pile-up in turn two and he barely missed the wreck and advanced up to third place to take the checkered. With the third place finish, he was able to extend his points lead a little further over second place in points.
